Municipalities

All our public projects move in concert with the four critical components of time, quality, safety and cost as equal contributors to the success of the project.

MIC is adept at managing these components simultaneously and applies this matrix to each decision of the project.

Cost Control

Cost control is everyone’s concern and we always look at the budget as if was our money.  Our experience in public projects tells us that one of the most important elements of cost control is a good set of drawings.

Architects & Engineers

We work closely with architects and engineers and the teams from the governing body to assure we meet the needs of the occupants and the needs of the Governing Body.

Subcontractors

Our subcontractor bid processes call for interviews with the lowest bidders to confirm scope and their ability to honor their bid. With the Governing Body approval, we have allowances built into the bid which allows for the normal project change orders. Allowances, change orders, and required back charges allow us to keep in budget.

Bid Processes

Evaluation of bidders begins with the pre-qualification requirements. We strive for a minimum of three bidders per trade. All bidders are required to attend an MIC bid review meeting allowing for careful review and confirmation of scope vs. cost. If bidders are extremely low and have failed to evidence their ability to deliver in all areas and requirements, MIC will disqualify them and begin review of the next bidder. If any trade item is out of line in cost, we re-bid in order to get better numbers. References are called and carefully checked for bidders that are unfamiliar to us. When all tasks and evaluations are completed, MIC issues recommendations of awards to the Governing Body.

MIC maintains a staff of highly experienced construction and project support professionals.  Each of our key positions is staffed by individuals with 15-20 years of service to MIC and  assuring that project teams have established quality standards and protocols to effectively complete each task.
